The Kalachakra mandala, known as the “Wheel of Time,” is a highly intricate and symbolic design used in Tibetan Buddhism to represent the entire universe and serve as a meditation tool. Inside the palace are numerous deities, including Kalachakra and his consort Vishvamata, representing various aspects of the enlightened mind and the universe.
Surrounding the central palace are concentric layers of geometric patterns that represent different levels of existence and aspects of reality, featuring intricate designs and symbols related to elements, cosmic processes, and spiritual teachings. The outer circles often depict the wheel of time, illustrating cycles of existence and the passage of time. The mandala’s vibrant colors each carry specific symbolic meanings, such as purity, earth, fire, air, and water.
