A Chengresi Thangka is a Tibetan Buddhist painting that depicts Chenrezig, also known as Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion. Chenrezig is one of the most revered figures in Tibetan Buddhism, embodying the compassion of all Buddhas. He is believed to hear the cries of all sentient beings and to work tirelessly to alleviate their suffering.

In the Thangka, Chenrezig is typically depicted with four arms, each representing a different aspect of his compassionate activity. The first pair of hands are joined in a prayer gesture at his heart, holding a wish-fulfilling jewel, symbolizing the unity of wisdom and compassion. The second pair of hands hold a crystal rosary and a lotus flower.
